Energia com impacto positivo

Consideramos energia sustentável a que "satisfaz as necessidades do presente, sem comprometer a capacidade das gerações futuras de satisfazerem as suas próprias necessidades".
Para simplificar, e citando o dicionário Cambridge, é a energia produzida a partir de fontes renováveis.

A energia renovável é gerada a partir de fontes como a luz do sol, o vento, a chuva, as marés e até do calor proveniente do centro da Terra. Comparada com fontes fósseis como o petróleo, o carvão e o gás natural, emite menos gases de efeito de estufa e tem menos impacto ambiental.

Atualmente, o setor da energia é o maior emissor individual de gases de efeito de estufa do mundo1. A solução? Passar a gerar 90% da eletricidade mundial a partir de fontes renováveis até 2050 2.

Esta transição para energia de fontes renováveis é mais sustentável para o planeta, aumenta a segurança e a independência energética de combustíveis fósseis importados — que são muitas vezes responsáveis pelas flutuações de preços no mercado.

Portugal destaca-se como um dos países na vanguarda na produção de energia renovável, ocupando a 7ª posição no ranking global3.

Em 2020, a EDP forneceu valores recorde de energia sustentável para clientes particulares e pequenos negócios, atingindo 65,5% de fontes renováveis no 3º trimestre.

A quantidade de produção é influenciada pelas condições climáticas do país, uma vez que grande parte da energia produzida é hídrica ou eólica. Em 2022, mesmo com a produção de energia nas barragens prejudicada pela seca, as energias limpas ainda contribuíram com 54% na geração de eletricidade4.

Devido à produção inconstante de renováveis, Portugal continua a importar eletricidade de fontes mais poluentes, como o carvão, que representou 16% do consumo total4 nesse ano.

Com o tarifário verde, garante que a energia que utiliza é de fontes renováveis, graças à aquisição de Garantias de Origem, sem qualquer custo para o cliente.

Com cerca de 2500 horas de sol por ano, Portugal é sem dúvida um país priveligiado na sua exposição solar.
