How we relate
EDP forms relationships with its suppliers based on the principles of partnership and promoting sustainable development. The company has developed active information practices with its suppliers with regard to the values in its Code of Ethics, in order to highlight the importance of integrity in business strategy.
We intend to stimulate entrepreneurship and improve inter-relationship processes between EDP and its suppliers, by
> Promoting technical competence and a competitive market;
> Ensuring integration and cooperation in relations;
> Fostering permanent, open dialogue that enables us to ascertain the expectations of this important group of stakeholders;
> Influencing the supply chain, in order to promote eco-efficiency, safety and security and continuously create value.
Existing channels
EDP has established various channels of communication with its suppliers, including:
> An
area of the EDP site exclusively for this purpose;
> The
Sustainability Forum, where good sustainability practices are shared, facilitating knowledge and access to more targeted information, sharing methodologies and the joint development of projects;
> Regular surveys of Suppliers;
We respond by
> Supplier Meetings;
> Basic Training in Prevention and Safety, audits and requirements that suppliers maintain their qualification level;
> Prevention and Safety Award – a prize awarded by EDP to service providers who have significantly contributed to strengthening prevention culture in EDP;
> In the field of environmental management, training is provided, audits are carried out and supplier qualification is monitored.
> EDP, through its CValor project, which began in 2009, was one of the first two companies worldwide to join the "Global Action Network for Transparency in the Supply Chain" of the GRI - Global Reporting Initiative. CValor aims to build the capacity of the EDP Group’s suppliers as regards the preparation of sustainability reports according to GRI directives. In this context, 5 SMEs were selected in 2009 and a further 6 in 2010.
