Dialog with Stakeholders

EDP acknowledges through its management practices that the creation of value involves the different stakeholders, identifying and managing their expectations. It maintains close dialogue that reinforces trust, expands on the knowledge of the area in which it operates and ensures greater control and the minimisation of business risks, particularly the risk associated with its "social licence to operate”.

This was the background to EDP taking Dialogue with Stakeholders as one of its Principles of Sustainable Development, and in relation to which it has made the following general commitments:

> Ensure open and transparent relations of confidence with the different stakeholders;

> Establish channels for stakeholders to have a voice and integrate their concerns;

> Report economic, environmental and social performance in a credible and impartial manner.

The process of stakeholder identification is the result of two distinct and complementary approaches:

> Relevance to the company, based on the control and minimisation of the various business risks, especially reputation, operational, regulatory and commercial risks;

> Evaluation of the impacts that business activity has on specific segments, measured through consultation with the local population and, additionally, from contacts instigated externally.
