Internal Organisation

EDP has established sustainability as a transversal theme in the Group's business management.
Sustainability and the Environment have been integrated into the EDP Group's organisation as follows:



With this organisation, we believe we can establish direct communication between the corporate and functional structures, thus guaranteeing not only a better flow of information but also more effective operation in initiatives of this type.

 

Environment and Sustainability Committee

The Environment and Sustainability Committee is one of EDP's most long-standing bodies, with statutory existence since 1991.

Duties

Specific consultative functions are attributed to the Environment and Sustainability Committee regarding the environment. This includes advising and supporting the Board of Directors on the definition the company's environment and sustainability strategy on the, and issuing opinions and recommendations on the environmental impact of projects promoted by the EDP Group.

Members

The Environment and Sustainability Council comprises 5 persons of recognized expertise in the area of environmental protection and sustainability, appointed by the Shareholder's General Meeting according to a proposal of the Executive Board of Directors:

Sustainability and Environment Department (DSA)

The main responsibilities are to support the Executive Board of Directors in defining the sustainability and environmental policy and objectives and to cooperate with the business with a view to boosting complementarities and synergies in these areas and, in particular, to contribute to the operationalisation of the policies and initiatives in the area of the Group's environmental management.
