The operator must act quickly and try and remove the machine from the line but in such a way as to avoid breaching the conductors. If there is any danger of this manoeuvre causing a breach of the electric conductor, for example if the conductor becomes soldered or stuck on the machine, the operator must wait until the line is confirmed as being disconnected.Inside the machine the operator does not in principle carry the risk of electric shock given that he/she is at the same electrical potential as the machine. If due to a fire in the machine or other serious danger the driver has to abandon it, he/she must jump, taking care not to touch the machine and the ground at the same time, and move away with small steps.Nobody must come near to the machine while it has not been safely moved away from the electric conductors or until the line has been disconnected and grounded, otherwise the would-be helper could also become a victim. If contact occurs with a high-voltage line, freely or through an electrical arc, whilst without any apparent consequences, EDP must be immediately informed so as to check the state of the conductors, since they may have become weakened.

It is the duty of the person responsible for the construction site and the employing entities of the companies present to take measures to ensure the safety of the construction site.

If there are visible high-voltage electric lines in the area of the construction site or its accesses, or if the works are taking place where there may be underground electric cables, precautions should be taken to avoid electric accidents. Contact EDP who will specify the safety distances with which to comply.
