HC Energía operates in the regulated electricity distribution and supply businesses, its natural market being the region of Asturias. The company has been expanding its business to other Spanish regions, and is today present in the regions of Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Barcelona, Huesca and Zaragoza. These are rapidly expanding markets with strong industrial components and a high number of liberalised customers, without a redundant structure of distributors in the area.

Electricity consumption growth from residential clients in Spain has been sustained. As for industrial clients, one has been witnessing a moderate growth due to a consolidation of the sector.

HC Energía's distribution network covers the Asturias (owning most of the region's network), Valencia, Madrid and Alicante, amounting to 22,265 km by the end of 2010.

In recent years, the company has played an important role in the continued modernisation of rural areas, participating in the successive Electricity Plans promoted by the Government of Asturias.

The number of electricity clients connected to HC Energía distribution network recorded an average annual increase of approximately 2% in the past four years. By the end of 2010, HC Energía distributed electricity to some 651,000 consumers.

HC Energía has made continuous efforts in the expansion and improvement of its distribution network in order to assure the continued supply of electricity.

This concern has led to the incorporation of the most modern technologies for network control and detection and restoration of breakdowns.

HC Energía is leader when it comes to service quality in terms of Equivalent Interruption Time, having the best performance of the sector in Spain.
