Electricity Distribution

EDP Group develops its regulated electricity distribution activity in mainland Portugal and in Spain, namely in the Asturias region and to a lower extent in the regions of Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Barcelona, Huesca and Zaragoza.

Electricity distribution activity is a regulated activity that consists in bringing the electricity, through the distribution network, from the transportation network substations to the final consumption points. Within the scope of this activity, EDP builds, operates and maintains the distribution network and other instalments aimed at electricity distribution, granting service quality and direct and customized assistance to its clients. 

Portugal

EDP Distribuição - Energia, S.A. is the EDP Group's company operating in the regulated distribution and supply businesses in Portugal. EDP's distribution activity is regulated by ERSE (Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos) which defines the tariffs, parameters and prices for electricity and other services in Portugal, controlling and assuring the levels of quality and service demanded by the DGGE (Direcção Geral de Geologia e Energia).

Spain

HC Energía operates in the regulated electricity distribution and supply businesses, its natural market being the region of Asturias. The company has been expanding its business to other Spanish regions, and is today present in the regions of Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Barcelona, Huesca and Zaragoza. These are rapidly expanding markets with strong industrial components and a high number of liberalised customers, without a redundant structure of distributors in the area.
